Bainbridge blanked Newport 5-0 in girls soccer Tuesday night at Bainbridge High Stadium.

The Spartans scored two quick goals to take a 2-0 lead.

Leah Mulholland took a corner feed from Rosie Kerstetter and elevated over two Knights — captains Elisa Graue and Ali Lundberg — at the right edge of the goal and headed the ball for the Spartans’ first goal of the evening in the third minute of play.

Natalie Vukic then dribbled down from the Knights’ end, passed to Kerstetter and got the ball back for the second score in the fourth minute of action.

Kerstetter picked up her third assist at the 21st minute mark, feeding a corner kick to Riley Gregoire for the goal.

Fetching the ball out of the back of the net, Newport goalkeeper Sydney Tomlinson grumbled loudly: “Are you kidding me?”

It was no joke, though. The Spartans scored twice in the second half to walk away with the Metro League win.

Kerstetter scored in the 42nd minute with an assist from Vukic, who also set up Gregoire for her second goal and the final one of the night in the 54th minute.

The Spartans travel to Bishop Blanchet for their next game on Thursday, Oct. 4.
