BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High boys junior varsity basketball team is making a name for itself. Following a 59-40 victory over Central Kitsap High Wednesday, Dec. 11, the team stands with a season record of 4-1.

“We are competing really hard,” said Head Coach Henry Guterson. “Our man-to-man defense is getting stronger. We need to execute better on our offensive sets and defensive schemes, but the guys are improving every day. We are 4-1 now, and getting excited for league play.”

The season’s initial winning streak continued Thursday, Dec. 5 with an epic 58-13 win over South Kitsap.

“We got off to a very quick start and never let up,” Guterson said. “Thomas Middleton led the team with 11 points. Many guys got around 10 points.”

That type of aggressive play was repeated the following week when the team beat Peninsula High 65-50 Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Sawyer Conrad led the team with 22 points. Blake Bieber scored 17.

The most recent victory over Central Kitsap saw some significant achievements in the Spartan’s game, on both sides of the court.

“Miles Gori had 10 points and 16 rebounds,” Guterson said. “Reed Thomas had 17 points and three huge 3s in the fourth quarter.”

“The game was tied at half, but we pulled away in the second half mainly due to a stifling man-to-man defense,” the coach said.
