SEATTLE – The Spartan girls held their own in the first half of last Friday’s game against Ballard, but after a particularly active third quarter for their host, Bainbridge High found itself facing a nearly impossible points deficit the rest of the way and ultimately lost, 34-18.

The first quarter of the low-scoring affair saw the BHS girls team put four points on the board to Ballard’s one, but the Beavers paddled away in the second and outscored the Spartans 13-4.

Up 14-8, Ballard continued to outpace Bainbridge and held the Spartans to another quarter of single-digit scoring (15-7) to all but assure the win.

BHS put just three points on the board in the fourth.

Spartan senior Paige Brigham led the team in points, earning six total.

Taylor Tye managed five and Kiera Havill scored three.

Tye remains the team’s points-per-game leader, averaging 11.3 per game. Brigham holds the next top spot, averaging eight and a half.
