Raiders routed in girls LAX

BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans took the wheels off the Raiders faster than a NASCAR pit crew as Bainbridge beat Nathan Hale 20-3 in girls varsity lacrosse Tuesday at BHS.

Mackenzie Chapman and Eleanor King led the scary-strong Spartan offense, with five goals each.

Eleanor Collins finished with a hat trick for BHS, while Kendall Havill and Maggie Sweeney added two goals each.

All told, eight Spartans scored in the game, with Eva Genkinger, Bella Jackson and Abby Reibsamen also contributing one goal each.

Bainbridge played unselfishly on the offensive end, as well, with the team recording 12 assists in the game (Chapman, 3; Havill, 3; Sweeney, 3; Collins, 2; and Amanda Fox, 1).

The Spartans absolutely owned the midfield, as well, with 18 draws to the Raiders’ four. Bainbridge also picked up 15 ground balls, while Hale secured just four.

The game marked the return of Thuy Ortiz to the Bainbridge goal; she stopped five of eight shots for a save percentage of 62.5 percent.
