BAINBRIDGE – Island runners can save up to $8 on the normal online entry fee for the St. Patrick’s Day Dash by joining the Bainbridge O’Blazers running team, O’Blazers’ captain and island running advocate Jim Whiting said.

The O’Blazers are built around the park district’s popular “Shape up for Spring Sports” middle school running program, he said, and open to all island runners.

The entry fee is $27 through the end of January and $32 by March 2.

Whiting — founder of the Summer All-Comers Track Meet event and meet director for 20 years of several Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District running programs — will pick up race packets and distribute them on the 7:05 a.m. ferry on race day (Sunday, March 13). They will also be available beforehand by prior arrangement.

To register, visit www.stpatsdash.com and select “Team Member Registration” under the “Registration” option. Then enter the required personal data using “BAINTEAM” as your team registration code.

Due to a computer glitch, Shape up for Spring Sports was omitted from the Parks Winter/Spring catalog. The class begins on Tuesday, Jan. 26 and continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the end of March.

The class meets at various island venues from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.
