The Spartans squeaked by Ballard in gymnastics in a four-way meet last week that saw Sehome claim third and Chief Sealth, fourth.
Bainbridge finished with a team score of 166.95 to Ballard’s 163.05. Sehome tallied 141.65 and Chief Sealth, 125.85.
The Spartans ran away with the victory after wins in the vault, bars and floor.
The Beavers’ sole first-place came on the balance beam, where Ballard edged BHS, 39.60 to 38.95.
A strong team performance was key on the vault.
Celyn Stermer won the event for Ballard with a score of 8.8, but Siqi Talley claimed second for Bainbridge (8.5) while teammate Morgan Derickx was third (8.3).
The Spartans’ Remi Rosencrans also tied for fourth with Ballard’s Kelsey Barnes after both gymnasts notched a score of 8.2.
Rosencrans came up big for Bainbridge on uneven parallel bars, winning first with a score of 9.35.
Talley finished in second (8.5) for BHS.
Derickx placed fifth for Bainbridge in the event, with a score of 7.7.
The Spartans again dazzled on the floor exercise.
Rosencrans again paced the field with a knockout score of 9.55.
Talley claimed a share of second place, and tied with Juliana Jeffrey of Squalicum, with a mark of 9.5.
The Spartans also claimed the fourth-place spot, with Mariko Ronan earning a score of 9.45.
Other big performances in the event include Derickx (ninth place, 9.05), and BHS’s Karena Klinkenberg and Althea Pippinger (who tied for 10th place with Kelsey Barnes of Ballard, 9.0).
On beam, Rosencrans also led the Spartans, earning a second-place finish with a score of 8.8.
The Spartans return to the Rock for a home meet Friday, Jan. 27 against West Seattle and Sealth. The meet starts at 6 p.m.
