Eagles win Olympic League bowling tournament

The Klahowya girls bowling team claimed the Olympic League title with a total score of 2,994 Jan. 20.

Port Angeles finished second in their first league tourney knocking down 2,553 pins. Bremerton will join those two teams at the West Central District tournament Jan. 28 at Paradise Lanes in Tacoma after placing third at 2,457.

The Eagles took the first three individual positions after three individual games and four Baker games.

Lucy Mitchell finished first with a total of 673 pins in three games, including 245 in her second game. Hailey Johnson placed second with 473 pins, including a 169 in her second game. And Jessica Hedahl finished right behind Johnson with 468 pins. Hedahl’s highest game was 193 in her first one.

The other individual qualifiers for districts were Bremerton’s Lauren Rigby, who took fourth, and Olympic’s Lilly Converse.

Klahowya’s other two bowlers did not finish far behind the qualifiers. Nevaeh Glance had 408 pins and Salina Stroup 386.

The Eagles hope to dominate districts after claiming fourth in the 2A/1A state tournament last season.
