MISSOULA, Montana – Sasha Carter finished her career with the Montana women’s tennis team by earning her second Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region ranking.

Carter, who was ranked No. 5 in the region after the fall tournament season, came out of Montana’s spring duals tied for 19th despite going 17-5 in singles, 11-1 against Big Sky Conference opponents.

It was sixth time under coach Steve Ascher, who concluded his seventh season coaching the Grizzlies in the spring, that one of his players earned a regional ranking in singles in either the ITA’s January or June listings.

Carter, who was named Montana’s Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athlete last month, finished her career with 91 singles victories, the most in Montana program history.

She was a three-time All-Big Sky selection, earning second-team honors as a sophomore and first-team accolades as both a junior and senior.

Carter also received the 2015 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award.

The ITA Scholar-Athlete Award requires a 3.5 GPA for the most recent fall and spring semesters.

Carter graduated in May with a 3.51 GPA as a marketing major.
