BIFC to host Kitsap Pumas during Soccer Saturday

BAINBRIDGE – The Kitsap Pumas will play their first game on Bainbridge Island in six years on Saturday, April 9 as part of the Soccer Saturday festivities hosted by the Bainbridge Island Football Club.

The Pumas’ preseason game against Western Washington University is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Bainbridge High School.

The match is the culmination of a full day’s schedule worth of soccer, including two more matches that the Bainbridge High School’s junior varsity (11 a.m.) and varsity (12:45 p.m.) teams will play against Kingston High School.

“We’re happy to take any chance we get to reach out to the local youth soccer community,” Pumas Head Coach Cameron MacDonald said. “We’re thankful that Bainbridge High School and BIFC have agreed to host us for what should be a good game against a top local college side.”

Admission to all three games will be free of charge.

The Pumas have a further tie to BIFC through goalkeeper coach Liviu Bird, who has coached with BIFC since moving to Kitsap County last summer and is currently taking charge of a team in the club’s Under-10 Development Academy.

The Kitsap Pumas are entering their eighth season in the Premier Development League (PDL) in 2016 after winning the Northwest Division for the fourth time in 2015.
