BAINBRIDGE -The Bainbridge Island Football Club’s Girls U14 team “Feroce” claimed second-place overall in the recent Founders Cup State Soccer Tournament in the girls under-14 division.

The girls had a convincing 4-0 win against Newport FC in the semifinals, with goals by Anika Lesko and Lindsay Franznick (who finished with a hat trick).

Sarah Irvin and Caroline Ketcheside were outstanding in goal, and the entire team played at a high level, according to team officials.

The final championship game was against Mercer Island FC.

The game was hard-fought and evenly played, though Feroce controlled a majority of the possessions. However, the girls just couldn’t find the back of the net, with several shots being cleared off the goal line or blocked by defenders in the box.

Meanwhile Mercer Island was able to convert on several nice counter attacks and won the game 3-0.
