BHS freezes out NSI in girls LAX

The Spartans overcame the forces of nature — and the Newport Sammamish Interlake girls lacrosse team — in Bainbridge’s season opener in varsity lacrosse last week.

BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans overcame the forces of nature — and the Newport Sammamish Interlake girls lacrosse team — in Bainbridge’s season opener in varsity lacrosse last week.

In super soggy and dismal weather conditions, BHS won 12-3 on a freezing night at Memorial Stadium.

Bainbridge’s MacKenzie Chapman led the Spartan onslaught with eight goals. Sophia Hagstromer added a pair, and Amy Willerford and Robin Hilderman contributed a goal each to the Spartan win.

Hilderman also had two assists, as did Kiera Havill. Karsen Sahleen had one assist.

Defender Hannah Maroni had four ground balls and one caused turnover, while Bainbridge goalie Gisella Gonzalez had four saves.

BHS also received most of the draw controls, 13 to NSI’s seven.

NSI’s Delaney Montgomery had one goal and Emily Hillyer finished with two goals and one assist. NSI’s goalie, Gabriella Grinstead had seven saves.
