JV girls win soccer match
The girl’s JV soccer team beat Blanchett 4-1. Goals were scored by Veronica Saez, Sarah Lukins, Bryton Wildsmith and Maddy Midas. Assists were provided by Bryton Wildsmith and Morgan Moniz.
The team’s next game is Thursday at Lakeside High School at 4 p.m.
Bainbridge X-Country
Last week featured strong performances and fast times against strong Central Kitsap teams at Fort Worden.

Woodinville 39,
Bainbridge 30
The Varsity Blue squad lost to perennial powerhouse Woodinville 39-30 Saturday at Strawberry Park.
In a game that saw several lead changes, Woodinville jumped ahead 8-0. Bainbridge responded, tying it at 8-8 with a 45-yard pass from quarterback Sam Kallas to running back Matt Stone. After two more Woodinville touchdowns on long passes, Bainbridge again rallied. A 55-yard pass to Stone was soon followed by a 1-yard plunge by the running back to put Bainbridge ahead 22-20 at halftime.
Woodinville rallied in the second half, but Bainbridge’s defense kept the game close with sacks by Jacob Snow and Noah Donohue, several tackles for losses by defensive ends Scotty Wyman and Tyler Moniz, as well as two interceptions by Kallas. Multiple passes to fullback Tino Peleti and a TD pass to receiver Opie Miller helped Bainbridge amass 280 yards in the air.
BI Rookies 26, Juanita 12
The Bainbridge Island Rookies shocked undefeated Juanita by scoring three touchdowns in the opening minutes of the first quarter and then held on for a 26-12 win on the road.
The Rookies’ offense found the end zone on their first three possessions with runs of 51 and 52 yards, and a 46-yard pass play.
Their defense took control of the game during the second half, limiting Juanita to only 70 yards in total offense. Juanita trailed 20-12 entering the
fourth quarter, but the Bainbridge offense worked on grinding out the clock and securing the team’s third straight victory
The Rookies finished with 244 rushing yards on 27 carries.
