Bainbridge girls outgunned by Holy Names in hoops

SEATTLE – The Spartans found themselves more than a little behind the curve in last Wednesday’s away game against Holy Names Academy.

The varsity girls basketball team was beaten 67-23, bringing their overall season record to 2-3.

HNA lead in every quarter but the fourth, when BHS finally managed to outscore their hosts, 7-4.

In the first, the Cougars jumped ahead 20-9 and again in the second quarter outscored the Spartans 17-7.

The third quarter was arguably the most devastating for the Spartans.

BHS was unable to achieve any offensive gains at all, while HNA jumped ahead 26 more points.

Katie Usellis was the top scorer for BHS, and contributed 11 total.

Perpetual Spartan scoring machine sophomore guard Taylor Tye managed seven.

Senior post Kayla Buchmeier chipped in four points and Natalie Beatie added one point.
