Bainbridge drubs Seattle Prep 10-1

BAINBRIDGE – Four scores and 10 runs ago, our Spartans brought forth on this fastpitch field, a new victory, conceived at home plate, and dedicated to the proposition that not all softball teams are created equal.

With apologies to Honest Abe, the Bainbridge varsity softball team piled up the runs across the first four innings in its battle against Seattle Prep but then became Stonewall Jackson to the Panthers by allowing just one run as Prep perished at the big bats of Bainbridge, 10-1.

The Spartans drew first blood by scoring a run in the first inning during last week’s matchup.

Then in the second, Bainbridge shelled Seattle Prep with another five runs to forge a 6-0 advantage.

The Panthers mustered a solo run in the third to trim the tide to 6-1, but the Spartans answered with two runs in both the third and fourth innings to seal the scoring at 10-1.

Sara Colley went the distance to pick up her second win on the mound for BHS. She allowed seven hits but just one run across seven innings, and left three Panthers fanning at the plate.

Riley Gregoire came up big for Bainbridge; she went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs.

Fellow Spartans Megan Spray went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Lauren Vchulek was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Emma Lindsay was 3-for-4.
