Ronald Everett Gill

Bainbridge resident Ronald Everett Gill, age 55, died Aug. 17 at his sister’s home in Lyle.

He was born Sept. 4, 1946 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Rex and Marian (Ness) Gill. He grew up in Ridgecrest, Calif. and attended Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo, Calif., graduating as a mechanical engineer.

His passion for sailing led him to Wilsonville, Ore. where he built a sailboat. After moving to Washington, he sailed the boat to Costa Rica and then to Florida. He later relocated to Bainbridge Island, where he continued to craft fine sailboats.

He is survived by his brother Larry Gill and his wife Lynne of Dallasport, Wa.; sister Patrice Archuleta and her husband James of Lyle; niece Megan Gill of The Dalles, Ore.; nephew Nat Gill of Maui, Hawaii; nephew Luke George of Grass Valley, Calif.; niece Carole Archuleta of Sacramento, Calif., and nephew Vincent Archuleta of San Francisco, Calif.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Aug. 31 at 656 Struck Road in Lyle.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, Wa.
