Peter Hayes Devin

August 22, 1957 – December 30, 2012

      Peter Hayes Devin, 55, passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2012, after a four year battle with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was surrounded by love and family as he was welcomed into heaven.

      Peter was born on August 22, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. The family moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington in 1961 where Peter attended grade school on the island and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1975. He graduated with a B.A. in marketing from Washington State University in 1979, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Moving to California in 1984, he was a Newport Beach resident for over 28 years.

      Peter had a passion for relationships, and investing time in family, friends and business. He had fulfilling 20-year career at Nordstrom, including a role as Director of Stores. He also worked at Polo Ralph Lauren, Outdoor Retailer, TGV Partners, and he developed a unique platform for outdoor industry tradeshows. He taught Business Marketing at Orange Coast College and was an active member of Mariners Church, where he served as an Elder and participated in multiple mission trips. Peter had a love for the outdoors, especially fly-fishing, hiking, golf, running and biking.

      He is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea of 33 years; son, Ryan Devin and his wife Julie and their daughter Elizabeth Jane of Costa Mesa; daughter Chelsea and her husband Rob Donegan of Costa Mesa; parents, Kern and Joyce Devin of Bainbridge Island; sister Jenny Chissus of Seldovia, Alaska; brother John Devin of Seattle; along with many extended family members whom he loved dearly.

      Peter will always be remembered for his love of family, unwavering faith and an extraordinary value placed in friendships, along with his courage to choose to live with Joy while dealing with ALS.
