Marjorie Behrens Munro

Marjorie Behrens Munro, 89, of Tracyton, died Oct. 7 in Bremerton.

She was born Sept. 20, 1914, in Seattle to Jerry and Gina (Hilstad) Behrens.

She graduated from Queen Anne High School, and attended the University of Washington.

She married D. Gordon Munro of Crystal Springs, Bainbridge Island, on Aug. 4, 1935, at the Theodore Hilstad farm in Clear Creek near Silverdale.

She served as a “Gray Lady” with the Red Cross in the 1950s, and was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and friends.

She was active in the Republican Women’s Club and the Silverdale Garden Club, and was a charter member of the the Silverdale Guild of Children’s Hospital, in which she was active for 49 years. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.

Her husband followed her in death on Oct. 12, five days after her own passing.

She is survived by nieces Gina Behrens and son Herman of Brownsville; Sandy Behrens and son Orlando Howard of Durango, Mexico; nephews Stephen Behrens of Washington, D.C., Jerry Behrens and wife Nohemi and their children Samantha and Jerry of Seattle; sister-in-law Rosa Behrens of Durango, Mexico; and numerous other relatives in the area.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Arthur and Howard.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at Peninsula Bible Fellowship, with interment at Island Lake Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, P.O. Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98105-0371.
