Macy S. Duggan Biggs, 85, died Sept. 23 on Bainbridge Island.

Funeral services were held Sept. 27 at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church in Georgetown, S.C., where she was a member. The officiant was Rev. Paul C. Fuener with burial directed by Graham Funeral Home of Georgetown.

She was born Dec. 21, 1916 in Lancaster, S.C. to Edward Wilson Sistare and Pearl Lathan Sistare.

After graduating in 1938 from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C., she taught elementary school for many years with the Georgetown County schools, as well as teaching piano in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Montgomery Herman Biggs, Jr. She is survived by son Montgomery Herman Biggs III of Bainbridge; daughter Mary B. Piepenbring of Valrico, Fla.; three grandchildren: Montgomery Herman Biggs IV of Port Angeles, Richard Lee Piepenbring II of Tampa, Fla. and Mary Elizabeth Piepenbring of Valrico, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
