Joe David Ramhorst

July 20, 1930 – April 27, 2025

Daddy Joe was born in Seattle WA. As a teenager in Richmond Beach, he and his buddies often sailed across Puget Sound. One of these adventures led to his discovery of Manzanita Bay on Bainbridge Island, where he would eventually design and build a home where he raised his family. His profession as a mechanical engineer was his passion. Designing commercial fishing equipment took him to NYC, Chile and Singapore. He loved water and snow skiing, boating, cats, reading non-fiction and playing Boogie Woogie on the piano. He’s fondly remembered for being the life of the party, reciting limericks and performing verbatim impersonations of his favorite comedians-Jonathan Winters and Red Skelton among them. After 40 years on Bainbridge, he and wife Joanne moved to the sunnier north shore of Clearlake CA. At 93 he was still rowing his hand built rowboat, swimming in front of his home and riding his bike. A few weeks before his death he continued reciting limericks, endearing himself to everyone around him. He is survived by brother Eric Ramhorst, son Marc Ramhorst, daughter Christine Ramhorst Salo, granddaughter Andrea Cait Ramhorst and great-grandson Liam Van Oosbree. No formal services will occur. Remembrances can be made to Planned Parenthood.
