Helen Cook

Helen M. Cook, of Bainbridge Island, died on April 25 at Messenger House. She was 94.

She was born on March 18, 1915. She later moved from Seattle to Bainbridge, where she lived for 52 years. She was a member of Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church; was a volunteer for the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital; and was a member of the 100 Club of Seattle, Wing Point Golf and Country Club, Bainbridge Island Garden Club and the Bainbridge Island Light Opera Association. She was a member of her church choir and played the organ.

She majored in music and attended Whitworth College and The University of Washington, later working for Northwestern Mutual Insurance, Harrison and Crossfield and Unigard.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Mary) Cook of Connecticut and Mary Cook of New South Wales, Australia; her siblings, Louise Shaw, Frances Beam and Roma Jamison, and Patty Mitchell Moore and Bob Moore of Bellingham; grandchildren Shane Cook, Ethan (Deena) Cook and Kelly (Ed) Elomina, of Lynwood; great-grandchildren Denise, Matthew, Michael, Natasha, Alanna and River; 21 nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis H. Cook, in 1988 and her siblings Paul Mitchell, Fred Mitchell and Ruth Dawson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. May 2 at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church, 11042 Sunrise Dr.
