Alexander “Sandy” B. Myers, 73

Alexander “Sandy” Myers died Oct. 21 at his home in Port Ludlow with his family by his side.

Sandy was born on March 24, 1936 in Seattle to Harold Brown Myers and Alura Dumas Myers, both from Washington pioneer families.

Raised in Seattle, he spent summers on Bainbridge Island as a child. He is a graduate of Garfield High School in 1954, and University of Washington in 1958, and a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He retired as Captain in the U.S. Army Infantry.

Sandy lived on Bainbridge from 1961-2005 and then moved to Port Ludlow.

Sandy spent his career as an insurance agent and as CEO of Alexander Myers Insurance Agency. He was a founding member of Grace Episcopal Church and past member of Eagle Harbor Yacht Club and Port Ludlow Yacht Club.

Sandy was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Alura and sister Susan Campbell.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette; son Alexander Steven “Lex,” daughters Diane Harris and her husband Steve, Cheri, and Deborah (Tim Petersen); sister Janet Stewart; two grandsons, Armor and Archer; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service is at 1 p.m. Nov. 7, at Grace Episcopal Church, E. Day Rd. with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Church landscape fund, Helpline House, or Jefferson County Hospice. An online guest book is at: www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
