Alan Bowman

Alan “Al” Bowman

July 1, 1941 – May 12, 2012

Before his passing, Al had forged a 70 year trail of laughter, generosity for the community, compassion for family and wisdom to all. Al was a pleasingly hard man; He worked hard, played hard and loved even harder.

As a forever young man, Al enjoyed fishing, hunting, soccer, strawberry candy and Judge Judy. He was very active in his children’s lives and community functions. He celebrated holidays with the joys of lutefisk and kumla. His humor was unforgettable; all who know him could recite punch lines that he delivered throughout his life.

Over the years Al loved to work, but not for money. It was for the passion of concrete and making sure that the community and the kids had all the playgrounds, basketball courts, skate parks and bus stops that Bainbridge and Poulsbo could hold. He worked unbreakable through the restraint of his aches and pains and pushed on in a young man’s job every day to provide for family. He did this out of the kindness of his heart and in the end it kept him going.

Al had a playful and irreverent outlook towards life; please take comfort in knowing that Al poured and finished concrete right to the end and passed on peacefully.

Survivors include: his wife Jean Bowman, Children: Ken Bowman, Jeff Bowman, Dawn Bowman, Tamara VanAtta and Randy Hall. Grandchildren: Tony, Tucker, Cashmere, Shad, Brittney and Chris.

Al was adamant that people use the occasion of his passing to remember and celebrate his life, with no rules “JUST AL’S WAY”.

So come celebrate Al’s life with us on June 30th between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. in the Sons of Norway marine room, Poulsbo WA.

Donations can be made in Al’s name to Bainbridge Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.
