      Aida Guillermina Ruiz, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Island Health & Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island, WA. She was born on June 24, 1925 in Lima, Peru. She was 86 years of age.

      Aida was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crochet, and she loved to have afternoon tea with her friends or family. Aida received the Nurse Aid by the Red Cross. In her youth, Aida was quite the athlete. She played tennis, competing in the national mixed double championships in Peru where she met her husband Juan. Also, she placed third place in the Peruvian Women’s Fencing Championships in 1950’s.

      She was the last of eight siblings and was the last to pass away. Aida is survived by her husband Juan P. Ruiz, daughter Rossana Muir (Shawn Muir), and grandchildren Sarah Muir and Catherine Muir all of Bainbridge Island. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in the United States, Peru, Venezuela, Canada and Spain. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:30 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow at the St. Monica’s Room at the church.
