Bainbridge Island is already a favorite for Seattleites looking for a weekend getaway.

With a little help from our friends, it may also become a favorite for travelers across the U.S.

Bainbridge has been nominated for “Best Summer Weekend Escape” in USA Today Travel’s 10Best contest.

Out of 20 nominated destinations in the country, it is the only nominee in Washington state.

Those interested in making Bainbridge a nationally-recognized destination can vote once a day over the next four weeks.

The contest ends Monday, May 26 at 11:59 a.m. EDT (8:59 a.m. PDT).

The winners will be announced on www.10Best.com Wednesday, May 28 at 11:59 a.m. EDT, then later on USA Today publications.
