UPDATE | Council vote counts continue to rise for Tollefson, Townsend and Roth

An updated vote count by the Kitsap County Elections Division shows a continued landslide victory for Val Tollefson, Roger Townsend and Wayne Roth for positions on the Bainbridge Island City Council.

An updated vote count by the Kitsap County Elections Division shows a continued landslide victory for Val Tollefson, Roger Townsend and Wayne Roth for positions on the Bainbridge Island City Council.

Since Tuesday night, the division has counted more than 1,100 additional votes in each council race.

With a total of 6,256 votes, Townsend still leads by an impressive margin in the race for the South Ward, Position 3 seat on council. Townsend has gone from 67.4 percent to 68.4 percent of the votes over opponent Dee McComb.

Townsend continues to lead by the largest margin in the council races. The latest vote tally is 4,282-1,962.

For the race for the Central Ward, Position 5 seat on council, Roth also continues to show an overwhelming lead over opponent Arlene Buetow.

An additional 1,149 votes have been counted since the last count. Roth has gone from 61.4 percent of the vote to 61.9.

Though the vote tally has risen for both candidates, Buetow’s percentage of the votes has dropped by .5 percent.

Their latest vote tally is 3,881-2,382.

The race for the North Ward, Position 7 seat on council has added the most votes since Tuesday night’s tally with 1,337 additional votes counted.

However, this has not changed the leading candidate. With 66.4 percent of the vote, Tollefson’s lead over opponent Dick Haugan continues to be a landslide.

The latest tally is 4,285-2,161.
