The crew from the ferry M/V Tacoma and the Coast Guard has joined in the search for a man who reportedly jumped off the ferry M/V Wenatchee as it approached Bainbridge Island Tuesday afternoon.

Ferry service to and from Seattle from Bainbridge Island has been delayed while the search continues.

The Coast Guard has sent a vessel to scene to lead the search-and-rescue effort.

Travelers aboard the 1:10 p.m. sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge said they saw a man jump from the back end of the car deck into the waters of Puget Sound.

The man went overboard just as the ferry Wenatchee was approaching Eagle Harbor.

Details of the incident were sparse Tuesday afternoon.

A Coast Guard spokesman with the Sector Puget Sound office said that they were “currently gathering information to assist in the search-and-rescue operation.”
