Traffic a mess after two-car crash on High School Road

Navigating the gauntlet of High School Road west of Highway 305 — already a driving nightmare thanks to this week’s utility installation work — was made worse Tuesday afternoon after a minor two-car collision near the Island Village Shopping Center.

Multiple police units, aid cars and emergency workers responded to the crash.

No one appeared to be seriously hurt after the collision, which happened just after 3 p.m. in the westbound lane of High School Road near the Chevron gas station.

The accident apparently occurred after a woman in an SUV was rear-ended by another driver in a sports car.

The driver of the sports car was being detained by police just before 3:30 p.m.

Traffic on High School Road has been stalled this week due to multiple lane closures prompted by the work of utility crews who are installing lines across the roadway.
