A tour of the Ferncliff Village development on Saturday will include a close-up view of the beginning of the construction of the first home being built in the 48-unit, affordable-housing development off Ferncliff Avenue.

The 10 a.m. event will also include a walk down Curtis Lane, a stroll along the new trail to Cave Avenue and a view of a new bus shelter.

Both the shelter and the trail were built primarily by volunteer. The shelter by Bainbridge Island Community Woodshop with wood logged from the site and cut by Salisbury Woodworking. The trail, which connects the development with Cave Avenue, was constructed in partnership with the Bainbridge Island Park District.

With four homes sold and now under construction, the tour signifies the final plat approval by the Bainbridge Island City Council on Nov. 16.

The public is invited to participant, and parking is available across Ferncliff Avenue.
