Girls Basketball

The Spartans fell to Cleveland 57-37 on the road Wednesday.

Bainbridge trailed 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles pulled away in the second, outscoring the Spartans 17-5.

Rebecca Sharar and Kasondra Totura led the Spartans with seven points apiece, while Hannah Depew scored five.

The Spartans, 3-4 in the Metro and 5-7 overall, maintain the top spot in the Metro-Sound division, and will face Nathan Hale (5-2 in the Metro, 8-4 overall) on the road at 8 p.m. Friday.

Totura poured in 15 points and five rebounds in the Spartans’ 43-36 victory over Chief Sealth Jan. 8.

Bainbridge went ahead 15-6 in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead.

Depew added seven points and four steals, while Sharar grabbed seven rebounds. Morgan Moniz led the team with seven assists.

Wrestling

Bainbridge will hold the 28th annual Island Invitational at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The all-day event will conclude with finals at 5 p.m.

The Spartans hosted a “Wrestle Against Hunger” food drive benefitting Helpline House at their home meet against Chief Sealth Thursday.

Bainbridge defeated Chief Sealth 43-33, and recorded five falls.
