Spartans turn back Crusaders in fastpitch finale

BAINBRIDGE - The Bainbridge Spartans wrapped up the regular season in fastpitch softball with a lopsided 14-3 over Holy Names.

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge Spartans wrapped up the regular season in fastpitch softball with a lopsided 14-3 over Holy Names.

It was a shortened affair. Bainbridge snapped a 1-1 first inning tie with a barrage of hits in the second that saw the Spartans cross home plate 10 times.

Bainbridge tacked on three more runs in the fourth to lead 14-3.

The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Riley Gregoire outstanding at home plate for the Spartans. She went 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs. She also contributed three runs.

Deahna King picked up her ninth win on the mound.

King (9-6) allowed five hits and had six strikeouts.

The win improved Bainbridge’s record to 12-6 (12-2 Metro; 6-2 Mountain Division).
