The Bainbridge boys varsity water polo squad hosted two home matches recently, first against South Kitsap (which they won) and the second against Newport (which they lost).

Still, it was a glass half-full kind of day for the team, who assured with their first victory a promising start to the postseason.

“Saturday morning we beat South Kitsap 20-5 to put our League record at 6-4 and clinch third place as well as a berth to Regionals,” Spartan Head Coach Jacob Millican said. “We ended up losing to Newport 9-6, but I was very pleased with how the boys played in both games.”

The team has continued to improve, Millican said, since they seemed to experience a group breakthrough mid-match several weeks ago.

The BHS team competed in the State tournament this past weekend in Tacoma. Pick up this week’s copy of the Review for all the latest Spartan sports coverage, and see all of Luciano Marano’s favorite photos from the Newport game here.
