Seven businesses have applied for marijuana producer licenses with the Washington State Liquor Control Board, according to the state’s most recent update to its list of applicants.

Four of the businesses have applied as Tier 2 producers and the other three have applied for Tier 3 licenses.

Tier 2 allows for between 2,000 square feet and 10,000 square feet of dedicated plant canopy, according to the board.

Tier 3 allows for between 10,000 square feet and 30,000 square feet of dedicated plant canopy.

The four companies that have applied for Tier 2 licenses are: Olympic Satellite (8480 Ferncliff Ave. NE); Quince Farm (5973 Old Mill Road NE); and TELOS3 (266 Ericksen Ave. NE), which has filed for two licenses.

The three companies  that have applied for Tier 3 licenses are: Brian Farms (12089 Miller Road NE); C3R Enterprises (5357 Diamond Place NE); and Ganjika Farms (6686 NE Bayview Blvd.).

The latest list of applicants on the Liquor Control Board website was finalized Dec. 31.

The deadline for applications was Friday, Dec. 20.

State officials note that the online list of applicants for marijuana licenses are subject to change, pending the license investigation process.

Brian E. Smith, spokesman for the Washington State Liquor Control Board, said he hoped the list would be final by Jan. 14.

Smith said license applicants are investigated to make sure the businesses meet the 1,000-foot rule and are not located near schools, day cares and other public facilities, and the investigator for each licensee also reviews the applicant’s background check and makes sure applicants meet the state’s residency requirement for marijuana licenses.

Local authorities are also notified and given a chance to comment, Smith said.
