Saturday night collision knocks out power to Sunrise Drive neighborhood

A vehicle hit a power pole on Sunrise Drive just south of Fay Bainbridge State Park, Saturday evening, causing an overnight power outage for roughly 100 homes.

The accident occurred at about 9 p.m. No injuries were reported, Bainbridge Fire Department Operations Chief Luke Carpenter said.

The force of the collision broke the power pole, which was hanging by wires when repair crews arrived. Puget Sound Energy spokesperson Roger Thompson said the pole, transformer and an underground connection all had to be replaced. New wires were also spliced in.

Power was restored at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
