Rolfes to serve as floor leader for Senate Democrats

Sen. Christine Rolfes was elected Thursday as floor leader for the Washington State Senate Democrats.

Sen. Christine Rolfes was elected Thursday as floor leader for the Washington State Senate Democrats.

“I am honored to have been elected by my colleagues to serve as their floor leader,” said Rolfes, a Bainbridge Island resident and 23rd District lawmaker.

“There is a lot of work to get done,” she said. “I look forward to ensuring procedures run smoothly and efficiently so we can get the most out of our 60 days in Olympia.”

The role of the floor leader is to help manage the action on the Senate floor, and to work across the aisle to ensure the debate runs smoothly. The floor leader is also the caucus point person on parliamentary procedure.

Rolfes, D-Kitsap County, replaces Sen. David Frockt, D-Seattle, who assumed the position of Deputy Leader.
