Puget Sound Energy will host a public participation meeting at Bainbridge Island City Hall Tuesday to talk about the power company’s plans to replace lattice towers on either side of Agate Pass.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. in the council chambers.

As per the city’s Public Participation Ordinance, representatives from PSE will be available during the meeting at 5:30 p.m. to answer questions and provide a presentation on the construction.

The company is proposing to replace two lattice towers with four steel poles. There will be two on each side of Agate Pass which will separate transmission lines and provide more reliable service.

The existing lattice towers are 44 years old and should be replaced within the next few years, according to PSE. The proposed replacements will be constructed in generally the same location, within the city of Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County. The location is on the north side of Highway 305 off of Reitan Road.
