Power outage knocks out email, website for city of Bainbridge Island

An early morning power outage at Bainbridge Island City Hall has knocked out the city's ability to send or receive emails.

An early morning power outage at Bainbridge Island City Hall has knocked out the city’s ability to send or receive emails.

The Monday outage has also made it impossible for city workers to get access to any online documents on the city’s server.

Bainbridge Island City Manager Doug Schulze said the power went out at city hall sometime between 7 and 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Power was restored at about 8:30 a.m., but that led to new problems.

“When it was brought back up, it fried a couple of our power supplies,” Schulze said.

“We are unable to communicate by email or our website. We’re not receiving or sending email; our entire network is down,” he said.

Repair work on the system won’t happen until Tuesday, after replacement parts arrive from the East Coast, Schulze said.

City hall will remain open and previously scheduled meetings for Monday evening, such as the Utility Advisory Committee meeting, will still be held.
