Be on the lookout for officers who are growing mustaches for this year’s “Movember.”

The international organization, Movember, takes “No Shave November” to a whole new level. Through online donations and friendly mustache competition, participants raise funds for men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.

Men grow and women support a “Mo” (mustache) for 30 days. Both become walking, talking billboards of programs ranging from awareness and education to living with and beyond cancer.

In 2012, Movember saw more than 209,000 Americans growing and supporting the Mo, raising

$21 million.

Also on the police department’s calendar, several Bainbridge Police men and women will be joining the community in this year’s fourth annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day.

The event will benefit Helpline House and has raised more than $42,000 in its first three years.
