New candidate files to run for Bainbridge council seat

Another candidate has joined the race for the District 4, Central Ward seat on the Bainbridge Island City Council.

Grayson William Wildsmith filed as a candidate in the race Thursday.

Wildsmith joins Councilwoman Leslie A. Schneider, the incumbent, in the quest for the council position.

Schneider was appointed to the position in April 2018, following the resignation of Mike Scott, who stepped down from his Bainbridge council seat after Gov. Jay Inslee appointed him as a judge in King County Superior Court.

Four seats on the seven-member city council will be up for grabs in November, and each position will be contested.

Councilman Ron Peltier announced earlier he would not seek a second term in the District 1, at-large seat. The candidates for that position are Anthony Oddo and Kirsten Hytopoulos.

Councilman Kol Medina is running for a second term in the District 2, North Ward position. The challenger is Kevin Fetterly.

Incumbent Councilwoman Sarah Blossom is running for a third term as the District 6, South Ward council member. Michael Pollock is also seeking the seat.
