A program honoring Kitamoto's work and legacy will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 in the Bainbridge High School LGI.

The Bainbridge Island School District’s Multicultural Advisory Committee invites students, families and community members to attend a program honoring Dr. Frank Kitamoto’s work and legacy in civil rights and social justice from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 in the Bainbridge High School LGI.

The evening will include a screening of “After Silence,” the documentary that recounts the forced removal of Japanese-Americans during World War II through Kitamoto’s story and interaction with Bainbridge high school students as they develop archival photographs.

The film will be followed by a panel featuring Frank’s sisters, Lilly Kodama and Frances Ikegama, and others who recently visited the Manzanar War Relocation Center in California.

Kitamoto was a sustaining member of the Multicultural Advisory Council, which was founded in 1986.
