How do you usually celebrate Thanksgiving?

“We usually go to my grandma and grandpa’s house. After we have a harvest, we usually play some games.”

Who cooks the turkey?

“My grandma and grandpa.”

How do you cook a turkey?

“I don’t know how. I never tried cooking. But it’s really good.”

What’s the best part of the turkey?

“The legs.”

Have you been talking about Thanksgiving in class and learning about the Pilgrims?

“I know about the Pilgrims because I got a book. ‘Pete the Cat. The First Thanksgiving.'”

So why did the Pilgrims come to America?

“The Pilgrims came from England because they thought they would make a better world for them.”

How long did it take them to get here?

“65 days.”

How did they get here?

“On a sailboat. With 50 dads, 20 moms and 32 kids.”

There were kids on the boat?

“Yeah, 32. They drank beverages.”

What did they do to pass the time?

“They had food to eat. That’s how they survived.”

What did they do after they got here?

“They had a big feast. Squanto was the person they met. He teached them how to grow stuff. Corn, squash.”
