Leona Mae Burke, 80, of Deer Park, Washington, passed away on July 11, 2015.

Leona was born to Oscar and Zena Tonnessen on Feb. 2, 1935 in Towner, North Dakota.

Leona spent much of her life on Bainbridge Island and in Kitsap County before moving to Deer Park.

Leona is preceded in death by husband Jack, son Matthew, sister Dorothy and brothers Harry and Martin.

She is survived by her love of 24 years, Donald Kjos; brothers Ken, Dick, Jerry and sister Annabelle; her son Wylie Burke; daughter Kimberley Newberg; and six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services celebrating Leona’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2 at Bethany Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island.
