Interfaith Amigos to visit Bainbridge

The Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap Interfaith Council will co-host with Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church the Three Interfaith Amigos Conference on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap Interfaith Council will co-host with Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church the Three Interfaith Amigos Conference on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The conference is from 2 to 5 p.m. and features the Three Interfaith Amigos: Rev. Don Mackenzie, Rabbi Ted Falcon and Sheik Jamal Rahman.

The trio got together in the aftermath of the tragedy of 9/11 to start a public dialogue with Interfaith Talk Radio. From that start they have built a joint ministry and traveled across the country celebrating “the shared healing, wisdom, compassion, and vitality at the heat of the three Abrahamic faiths.”

They have also documented their interfaith journey in two books, “Getting to the Heart of Interfaith” and “Religion Gone Astray: What we found at the Heart of the Interfaith.”

The Amigos will give an hour presentation, which will be free to the public, and an hour workshop, which will have a $20 fee.

The workshop will provide participants the opportunity to experience some of the stages of interfaith dialogue the Interfaith Amigos will be presenting in their program. To reserve a place at the workshop contact Gail Williamson (gail@rbpres.org) at the Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church office or Kent Chadwick (chadwick15@mindspring.com).

The conference will be held at Rolling Bay Presbyterian, 11042 Sunrise Drive NE.
