Gas dips below $4 a gallon on Bainbridge Island

Drivers on Bainbridge Island got a bit of a break at the pump Wednesday as the cost of gas dropped a nickel overnight and slipped under the $4-per-gallon mark for regular unleaded gasoline.

Drivers on Bainbridge Island got a bit of a break at the pump Wednesday as the cost of gas dropped a nickel overnight and slipped under the $4-per-gallon mark for regular unleaded gasoline.

The cost of gas dropped to $3.99 from $4.04 at the two Chevron stations on High School Road on Wednesday, July 9. The price of gas passed the $4 a gallon mark and hit $4.03 on June 20.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $4.01 in Washington state Wednesday, and the cost above gas remained above $4 a gallon in most metro areas in the state, according to the AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.

In the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett area, the average price was $4.06 a gallon. In Bremerton, the price was $4 a gallon; in Olympia, $4.03; in Tacoma, $4.01; and in Bellingham, $4.13. On the other side of the Cascades, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.81 Wednesday in Spokane.

The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.64 Wednesday, a drop from $3.67 a week ago.
