The Bainbridge Schools Foundation presented the Bainbridge Island School Board with a check for $545,406 at a recent board meeting.
It was the first check toward a total contribution of $833,000 this year. The funds provide professional development for teachers, academic support and intervention, and support innovative programs like the K-4 Design and Engineering program, and Edible Education in partnership with EduCulture. All students in the Bainbridge Island School District will benefit from the support of the foundation during their K-12 career.
“BSF is proud to partner with the Bainbridge Island School District to help provide resources that ensure all students are challenged, inspired and engaged,” said Mairead Shutt, executive director of the foundation.
“The purpose of these funds is to enhance the educational experience for all students in our public schools,” she said.
The foundation raised funds during the 2015-16 school year through the fall Clickathon campaign, the annual Gala Auction Dinner, the spring campaign, and through partnerships with several corporate sponsors.
The Bainbridge Schools Foundation determines its funding priorities through ongoing dialogue with Bainbridge Island School District leadership.
This year, the nonprofit foundation also held a roundtable discussion with school principals to hear their feedback and learn about their greatest priorities.
