Highway 305 on Bainbridge Island has been closed in both directions on the north end of the island following a fatality traffic crash that happened just before noon Wednesday.
Details were sparse immediately after the crash, but Bainbridge Island Fire Department Assistant Chief Luke Carpenter said a Jeep and a box truck collided at the intersection of Highway 305 and West Port Madison Road.
The man driving the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway is expected to be closed into the afternoon as the collision is investigated.
“Because it’s a fatality accident, the road is going to be closed, and stay closed, for a couple of hours,” Carpenter said.
Traffic is being diverted from Highway 305 onto NE Seabold Road.
