‘Bushy eyebrows’ lead to Silverdale man’s arrest

Kitsap County Court cases

You can change your clothes, but it’s harder to conceal your “bushy eyebrows.”

A 35-year-old Silverdale man was in Kitsap County Superior Court June 26 on charges of residential burglary and firearm theft. Bail was set at $100,000. If convicted, he faces 20 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.

A 54-year-old Bremerton man also was arrested for being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm. Bail was $200,000. He faces 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

The victims said at 6 a.m. June 23 a silver SUV drove onto their property, as seen in video surveillance. The person used a pry bar to try to open some doors, and then tried to kick in the garage door. He ended up getting into the house through an unlocked window. He stole firearms, two safes in a closet that contained cash, a coin collection, birth certificates, passports and other important documents. He also took an Apple Mac-Book, electric pressure washer, a full toolbox and used the couple’s bedsheet to take other items, court records say.

The next day at 10 a.m. a stolen vehicle was spotted in Port Orchard that matched the suspect vehicle. Police looked inside and saw what they believed to be some of the stolen items.

A victim sent police 22 video clips from various cameras around the house. The suspect was wearing a black Calvin Klein sweatshirt, faded jeans and Adidas shoes. Police went to various addresses near the stolen vehicle, and a suspect with those clothes on was spotted inside one of the houses. He quickly left and changed clothes. But “his bushy eyebrows were very distinguished,” court reports say.

He was arrested but then the Bremerton man tried to leave the house with a backpack. He was stopped by police. Inside were two firearms and four computers. One of the victims was summoned by police to the location. She was able to access one of the computers with her fingerprint. The items were returned to the couple, except for the guns.

Elude ends

An 18-year-old woman was in Superior Court June 26 on an attempted to elude police charge.

She faces five years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Bail was set at $150,000. She was arrested on a warrant as the crime occurred Nov. 14, 2022.

The red-haired woman eluded an officer one day, and again two days later when she ran a stop sign, and the officer did not pursue, court reports say.

That night she crashed the car and was arrested. She said she took off earlier that day because she didn’t have a driver’s license or plates on the vehicle. She said she took off two days before because she and a friend were “boosting” a car, which is slang for stealing. She also mentioned many people drive her vehicle because she rents it out.

Stolen car

A 44-year-old Port Hadlock man was in Superior Court June 26 on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Bail was set at $150,000. He was arrested on a warrant, court reports say.

An officer was driving through an AM PM parking lot in Poulsbo when he ran the plates on a truck that ended up being stolen. A man and woman fled when they saw police, but were captured in some nearby bushes.

Found at the scene was a punched ignition in the truck and some shaved keys. The woman was also taken to jail when a small bag with 12 M-30 pills was found.

Broomstick vs. gun

Don’t take a broomstick to a gunfight.

A young man was practicing martial arts with a broom handle, when he saw an older Bremerton man whom he knew had a gun. He said he’d seen the man shoot at his friend. He yelled out that the man was a coward because he shot at people when they drive away. The young man also said he wanted to die after having a bad day. The older man pulled his vehicle over and told the younger man not to threaten him or his son, a 15-year-old who is autistic, Superior Court records say.

The 57-year-old Bremerton man pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the younger man then took a shot over his left shoulder. He was arrested for second-degree assault, and the younger one for felony harassment. Bail was set at $50,000 for the Bremerton man, who faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. The younger man’s bail was set at $10,000.

Not the robbers

Police were called to a robbery, but they ended up arresting two others.

On June 24 at 7599 Highway 305 in Bremerton dispatch was told a suspect cocked a gun and pointed it at an employee, court records say.

The suspect fled, and police thought they found him driving recklessly and in the wrong direction. When the vehicle was captured, the pair inside were not the robbery suspects. But there were felony warrants out for their arrest.

And the 32-year-old Tacoma man who was behind the wheel was also arrested for attempting to elude and driving under the influence. Bail was set at $50,000 in Superior Court. He faces six years in prison and $15,000 in fines.
