Bainbridge High School has yet another award to boast this week. The school won third place in the Washington State High School Photography Contest.

Six of Bainbridge High’s students landed in the top six competetors chosen in the contest across numerous categories.

Student Colin Chupik claimed first place in the category for black and white landscape. Chupik’s photo will have the honor of hanging at the Seattle and Tacoma art museums, in addition to traveling with a photography exhibit over the coming year.

Chupik wasn’t alone in such recognition. Maya Edwards nabbed fourth place for the open animal category while Bea Sheffer got fourth place in the documentary and photo essay category.

Rowan Atherley received fourth place for her submission for digital and color landscapes. Kelsey Mackin followed in fifth place and Chupik picked up another award in sixth place for the category.

Keazia Thomas O’Hern placed sixth for her portrait photography.

BHS was just one school out of 82 that competed in the contest, which considered over 4,300 photographs. Each category had more than 600 photographs submitted. Seventeen BHS students placed as finalists while 24 students received select designations.
