Bainbridge woman hurt in crash with Sequim school bus

A 26-year-old Bainbridge Island woman was injured when her 2001 Subaru Legacy was hit by a school bus carrying the Sequim High football team Friday afternoon on Highway 3 north of Poulsbo.

The crash occurred roughly 7 miles north of Poulsbo near the Highway 3 intersection with Babcock Street, just south of the Hood Canal Bridge, at 4:22 p.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the Bainbridge woman was heading south on the highway and had stopped to make a left turn when the 2016 Bluebird school bus, driven by a 61-year-old Port Angeles man, came around a turn in the road and rear-ended the Subaru.

The bus was carrying the football team and staff from Sequim, but the State Patrol said no one on the bus was hurt.

The woman was taken to Harrison Medical Center Bremerton for treatment. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
