The Bainbridge Island School Board will hold two private meetings this week to talk about candidates for the next superintendent of public schools on Bainbridge.

Current Superintendent Faith Chapel will step down at the end of the school year, and the district launched a nationwide search for a replacement after Chapel announced her retirement late last year.

Altantic Research Partners, a Chicago, Illinois-based headhunting firm, is leading the search.

At the school board meeting last week, district officials noted that 24 “super candidates” had applied for the superintendent position.

Board members will meet in a closed-door executive session later this week to evaluate the applications that have been submitted for the superintendent position.

District officials have given notice that the meetings will be Wednesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 24.

As of Wednesday, the agenda for just March 23 had been posted on the district’s website.

That meeting is planned to run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the district’s board room.
