Bainbridge road closed after small landslide

A small landslide on Point White Drive Tuesday morning prompted the closure of part of the road for nearly five hours.

Part of a hillside next to the roadway collapsed — likely due to the tremendous amount of rainfall that soaked Bainbridge Island overnight — leaving a pile of soggy soil, vegetation, and other debris in the roadway.

The entire road was closed at first in the 3200 block of Point White Drive, but one lane was restored to traffic later Tuesday after crews from the city of Bainbridge Island cleared the roadway.

Both lanes of Point White Drive were reopened to traffic just before 3 p.m.
